Pat O'Connell began playing guitar as a teenager and played in his home town of Cork, Ireland, mostly backing up singers. Later, after moving to New York City in the early 80's Pat put his guitar away to focus on other things. Around 2008 Pat started playing again, initially in a Long Island bar band, and by 2010 started to appear on the NYC open mic scene - singing for the first time.
2015 saw Pat perform in 48 open mics in 45 different venues in all 5 boroughs of New York City, Westchester County, NY, Paris France, and back in Cork. In 2016 he was the feature performer at 12 different open mics, and in 2017 he assembled the early members of The Conall Band which played 4 shows at the Triad Theater and the Balcony Theater in the Center at West Park, both located in NYC.
The Conall Band recorded their first record in 2018. The Way's Up! features some of the songs Pat has composed over the last number of years, and includes Artie Greenidge on Bass, Keith Robinson on Drums, Hugh Pool on Guitars, John Ragusa on Woodwinds, and Christine Santelli on Vocals.
The Conall Band, featuring Ron Bongo and James Carlino on Drums and Percussion, play a monthly gig at Maggie Reilly's in NYC.
